Justice League was a critical and Double Cross (1996)commercial disaster, but some only want more pain. A devoted fan named Roberto Mata has started an online petition for Warner Bros. to release Zack Snyder's intended cut of Justice League and has already garnered over 56,000 signatures.
SEE ALSO: 'Justice League' had DC's worst box office yet. What does Warner Bros. do now?The Change.org page for the petition – "Zack Snyder's Director's Cut and Tom Holkenborg's (Junkie XL) Score for Home Release." – contains a lengthy description of the film's turbulent journey into theaters, including an ALL CAPS interlude about the incongruousness of Danny Elfman's score. (Elfman was brought in to replace Holkenborg as composer.)
Snyder stepped down from Justice Leagueafter a family tragedy in May, when Joss Whedon was brought in to finish and retool the film. The final product is often jarring; Whedon and Snyder's scenes are discernibly different, and a full Snyder cut might at least have a consistent tone.
The petition is aiming for 75,000 signatures, but this isn't KickStarter; meeting that quota just means Mata will submit his plea to Warner Bros., which is likely busy evaluating the film's abysmal performance and figuring out how to fix the DCEU.
Justice League is now in theaters.
