If you didn't catch the film in its "intended" (and gargantuan) form the first time around, here's the perfect chance to fix that 2008 FOMO.
The one week re-release promises to grow The Dark Knight's already record shattering $1 billion box office, but tickets for the event will be limited.
Beginning on August 24, the following theaters will screen The Dark Knight once a day:
AMC Universal Citywalk IMAX, Universal City
AMC Lincoln Square IMAX, New York City
AMC Metreon IMAX, San Francisco
Ontario Place Cinesphere IMAX, Toronto
Tickets for opening day will go on sale this Friday, June 20. Additional showtimes will be announced closer to screenings.
Following its original release, The Dark Knightreceived eight Academy Award nominations and, at present, still holds a 94% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Notably, Heath Ledger's performance as The Joker earned the late actor an Oscar, a Golden Globe, a Critics' Choice Award, and a Screen Actors Guild Award. Additionally, Christian Bale's Batman is wings and shoulders above Ben Affleck's more recent take. Just a fact!
