At the 2017 Emmys on gardens of pleasure eroticism & art in chinaSunday night, Sterling K. Brown had his mic cut mid-speech.
The 41-year-old actor was thanking the writers for This Is Us, for which he won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, after opening his speech with a tribute to the actors who had won the award previously.

Yet, unlike the others who've been played off, Brown got a second chance to finish his speech — albeit in the press room.
"You know what, I wouldn't mind finishing. Thank you for the invitation," Brown said, responding to a question asking if he'd like to continue his speech.

"I wanted to thank our writers. A show doesn't get seven acting nominations without some impeccable, beautiful, thoughtful writing. You guys are our lifeblood, so I want to thank you so much."

"They cut me off before I got to thank my wife, man! Ryan Michelle Bathe, you're everything," he said.
"You make my life worth living, and you gave me two of the most beautiful things that God has ever put on this planet: My sons. Andrew Jason Sterling Brown. Amaré Michael Ryan Christian Brown. Your daddy loves you with the strength of a thousand suns. I'll see you Monday after work. Love you."
And with that, Brown took questions from the press — as planned.
