Samsung has begun the long and Corruption (1983)painful process of recalling its defective Galaxy Note7 devices. And because the device is so volatile, the company is taking extra precautions by sending consumers a special thermal protective box.
SEE ALSO: Smoking Samsung Note7 video will make holdouts take the recall seriouslyThe exact nature of the elaborate return boxing was shared by the one of the people at XDA Developers who posted a video of the unique packaging on YouTube.
The return package includes a static shielding pouch, an OEM replacement box, an inner box around 'that' box and, finally, a large, outer thermal protective box that houses the rest of the packages. To top it all off, the company includes a pair of rubber gloves, presumably to help you safely handle the defective device.
On the outside of the box, a message clearly states that the package isn't permitted on airplanes:
Damaged/defective lithium ion battery, forbidden for transport by aircraft, ground and vessel shipment only.
The bold-faced outer markings on the box are yet another reminder of the unstable nature of the once well-reviewed smartphone.
Sure, the multi-layer return packing may seem a bit over the top, but considering how poorly Samsung has handled this entire Note7 debacle (slowly starting to work with the CPSC, issuing defective replacements, etc.) this is probably the most responsible thing the company has done to date in relation the Note7.
