After announcing their engagement on the official Clarence House Twitter account on Monday, Prince Harry and his fiancé, American actress Meghan Markle sat down with BBC's Mishal Husain to chat about their romance.

The interview — which was broadcast live on Twitter via Sky News —showed the couple gazing at each other with puppy dog eyes while recalling the major moments of their love story.

The two met on a blind date

Though Prince Harry had never seen Markle star in Suits, after a mutual friend set the two up on a blind date he knew she was special.

Prior to meeting for drinks Markle admits she didn't know much about the royal family either. "The only thing I had asked — I had one question — and I said, 'Is he nice?' because if he wasn't kind it didn't seem like it would make sense," she said.

Prince Harry proposed over roast chicken

The man may lead an unconventional and glamorous life, but Prince Harry kept his proposal far from flashy.

"It happened a few weeks ago, earlier this month here at our cottage. It was just a standard, typical night for us," the prince said. "Just a cosy night — what were we doing, roasting chicken?" Markle chimed in.

"Roasting chicken. Trying to roast a chicken," he confirmed. Does it get much better?

Markle described the proposal as "an amazing surprise" that was "sweet, natural, and very romantic."

The prince apparently got on one knee, but Markle was so excited she barely let him finish proposing before she agreed.

He designed the freaking ring 😭

As if popping the question over roast chicken wasn't romantic enough, Prince Harry even designed the engagement ring, using diamonds from his late mother's jewelry collection to make it extra special.

The prince explained he chose yellow gold since he knows it's Markle's favorite and included the memories of his mother "to make sure she's on this crazy journey with us together."

Markle said knowing the diamonds once belonged to Princess Diana is "so important" for her because it serves as a reminder that "she’s a part of this with us."

Though Markle never got a chance to meet Harry's mother, he believes "they’d be thick as thieves, without question."

The couple plans to marry in Spring 2018, which leaves time for plenty more lovey-dovey interviews.
