President Donald Trump didn't seem to fully grasp he was the butt of a joke in a clip of the HBO show Curb Your Enthusiasmthat he retweeted Monday night.
The Ongoing Archivesclip comes from an episode in which comedian Larry David —who plays a fictionalized version of himself on the show — wears a red, Make America Great Again hat so people will leave him alone.
In the video, while driving, David accidentally cuts off a motorcyclist, who goes nuts, cursing, and chasing after David, threatening to beat him up.
"I oughtta rip you out of that fucking car," the motorcyclist says.
But then David rolls down his window and puts on the MAGA hat and everything changes.
"Oh, just be more careful next time," the motorcyclist says gently.
The joke is basically: terrible people like Trump. But Trump apparently thought it made him look cool.
"TOUGH GUYS FOR TRUMP!" he tweeted above the clip.

Not for nothing, David in real life is decidedly not a fan of the president. The comedian was asked in an interview about Curbpotentially alienating itself from Trump voters and, well, he really did not care about risking that.
"Alienate yourselves!" he said in the viral clip. "Go. Go and alienate. You have my blessing. No, I could give a fuck."

So, again, the whole point of the Curb scene was that it made the president look bad. Apparently nobody told him that.
