Rubi Ibarra Garcia's quinceañera celebrations in central Mexico on Monday were attended by "thousands" after a video invitation to the festivities went viral.
SEE ALSO: The 'Om Telolet Om' meme has a bizarre originIn the notorious clip, her father, Crescencio Ibarra, invites "everybody" to the party, which the internet of course decided to take literally.
Garcia's 15th birthday celebrations, a significant rite of passage in many parts of Latin America, typically accompanied by a party, a dress and mass, became a phenomenon.
More than one million people RSVP'd to the event on Facebook. The airline Interjet advertised discounted flights to San Luis Potosi with the slogan "Are you going to Rubi's party?" and the petrol company Castrol also got in on the joke. There were video parodies. There were songs.
While the family said they intended the invitation only for people in the area, they also declared they would not turn anyone away.
On the day, the Associated Press reported that "thousands of people" attended. There was live music, a horse race and prizes. With the event said to resemble a rock concert, medical and security officials also attended.
Honestly, having your party go viral looks a bit stressful. Here's hoping Rubi ignored the crowds and enjoyed the day.
Everyone else is very sad they missed it.
