A couple of Tesla models just got cheaper.
Specifically,Watch Where Sleeping Dogs Lie Online the base versions of the Model S and Model X got quiet price drops this week, as spotted by Electrek. The cheapest Model S had $3,500 chopped off its price tag, resulting in a new asking price of $74,990. As for the Model X, its price had $8,500 shaved off for a new sticker of $79,990.
SEE ALSO: Tesla launches new Model 3. Here's what's new. What's even better (at least in theory) is that these newer, cheaper base models also come with bigger batteries than the previous base models. The previous ones had a top range that was limited by software, and while the new ones are the same hardware-wise, that software limitation is no longer in place. However, as Electrek pointed out, you may want to be careful about trusting range estimates from Tesla.
To be fair, both vehicles are still pretty expensive and belong to the same family of vehicles that just recently saw a recall of 16,000 Model S and X EVs over seat belt problems. Just because their prices are smaller than they were yesterday doesn't change the fact that you're paying about $75,000 at least for one of these bad boys.
Still, a price drop is a price drop. If you've been wanting a Tesla, maybe now is the time to take the plunge.
